After finishing up at the driving range, we decided to take a long walk home and, along the way, Jeff and Mother Nature create one sweet hat trick.

The London Police are amongst my favorite graffiti artists (Banksy, who’s become super trendy since his appearance in Fader 7 years ago, and Daim, who’s just plain super sick, are also favorites). During my travels after living in Copenhagen, The London Police’s work was my favorite to photograph. When they did a mural for 555 Soul’s Lafayette store, I went. I like them.

However, their toy, which I picked up at New York Comic Con 2 years ago, is a poorly-molded, needed to be exacto’ed and zap-a-gap’ed together, off-gassing piece of rubbish which, if not for the stack of cards under their feet, would continue to leap off the shelf every time someone in our building turned their head. So very very disappointing.

We had a Leia Bikini Contest / Photoshoot at our booth this morning. G4 and a couple other networks covered it, but G4’s video is the only one I can find, which is cool in that I’m in the background of quite a few shots (Proudly rocking my KIPP AMP Batizado T-Shirt). Enjoy!

You know those stories you’ve always heard about how the weather is always phenomenal in San Diego? They’re true. You know those stories you’ve never heard about how a train / trolley passes through San Diego every 10 minutes making street crossing an exercise in frustration? Those are true too. Also, and somewhat infuriatingly, jay walking is strictly enforced by police. So to sum up my first hour in San Diego, the weather is amazing while you wait 20 minutes to cross the street.

You live in a neighborhood for five years, thinking you know every watering hole in the area. The party celebrating someone’s birth decides to change venue, leaving the locale tersely named after a mixer with scotch. As the walking ceases and your eyes adjust to the decadently hot dimness, you find yourself somewhere new. Somewhere completely unfamiliar but incredibly comfortable. A tried and true speakeasy. And what’s special about this one is that it’s stylish in the sexiest way possible, far surpassing every other bar you’ve ever ventured into.

Your friends will ask you, “How were the drinks?”

They were delicious.

It’s been discovered! The future has come back to the past in an architectural form and taken up residency near the Williamsburg bridge just above Delancey. Quick! Ask it some questions!

Bank searching while lunch breaking on my first day substitute teaching meant lots of walking and Chinatown browsing and ended up with some lion growling and picture taking. It was very exciting.

The day was like any other, the sun rose, lingered in the sky for a few hours, and set. Trains went by. Birds flew in the air. The wind blew. But when the dust settled, a new layout was designed, a new database was devised, and our first article was delivered.

Between daylight savings time, a hard disk failing, Contra-Mestre Pininha’s workshop, Contra-Mestre Caxias’s fundraising roda, a vain attempt to schedule an overdue meeting, and the acquisition of two well fitting dress shirts, I almost forgot how blue the sky was today.

Stir crazy decided to manifest itself halfway through planning tomorrow’s shadow puppet samples. An hour later the clip is shot, the video is synced to Buggley Eyes by NOFX, and the procrastination is complete.
